The Salt River is NOT Kayaking 101!

I just couldn't keep you guessing too long about how the kayaking went. You know I am still alive because I have posted since. The real worry ended up being about Randy. We went down the first rapids and I crashed into trees and bushed and rocks, but just kept paddling, (did I mention that I am very sore?) Mark (the pro) yelled out to me what to do, which is always paddle faster then the currents. I don't know if that is physically possible though. It was heart pounding and very satisfying to know I did not tip. The most worried I was on the trip was when we all made it around the bend of the rapids and Randy didn't come out. I've seen movies like that, where the husband doesn't make it. We waited for a while, which involves back paddling, a new place to be sore from. Finally Mark went to go see what was going on, when the sunscreen that was in Randy's kayak came floating past Sharee and I. That did not make me feel any better. After another 15mins they both came around the bend and were laughing. So things worked out and I was not the one that tipped, added bonus! It really was a great time and we left so early that we never did see a trashy tuber. I would absolutely go again. Sorry no pictures, river and camera incompatible.

Kelsey's haircut

I just gave Kelsey a haircut. Its the first one I've done for her all by myself. She asked me to help her take her hair out of her bun and a ton of baby fine hair fell into my lap. I was kinda startled by this. What kind of disease makes a seven-year-old's hair fall out? Well, it's not anything like that. Just plain old chlorine from all the swimming she has done this summer it just caught up to her ends. Boy were they blond. Anyway, I'll post a picture after she does it tomorrow, its time for her to go to bed. Wow, Krista just asked me to cut her hair too. Look at that trust. I love it. She wants a cute little bob or something way out of my league. I just have to take her to my hair lady. What fun it is to have a cute built in friend. . . and babysitter. Krista you are awesome! I love you.

Mountain biking 101

I went riding with my hardcore mountain biking husband on Saturday. We got started on a trail up on power road. He knows the name of it. I will admit that I am a chicken, this isn't anything new and you'd think my sweet husband would remember. So as I am stopped looking over the first downhill wondering which rocky portion of the hill would be my undoing, my amazingly brave husband is two or three hills ahead of me. I finally decide what to do and walked that hill and then started riding. I did surprise myself that I didn't fall over every little bump on the trail. Wow, this is kinda fun. Then the next downhill, smaller but full of more cracks and erosion areas. This is not as fun. Randy comes to coach me through it will words like, "this is nothing, this is just the trail to the trail. Your bike was made for this and this is nothing." I know he meant to inspire me, but . . .
so the good news is that I usually talk myself out of being a chicken and I did. I rode through all of the hills I was so afraid of and did improve enough for Randy to say that he wants to take me out again soon.
My next adventure in being brave comes this Saturday when we go kayaking down the Salt River with some friends. I hope I don't tip. At least the rapids arn't rapids and the water is only knee deep. Definitely kayaking 101 material. Also, this is taking place so early in the morning that we will miss the PG-13 tubers. I am kinda excited. I'll tell you all about it.
Note: I am getting camera batteries today so I can finally download all my pictures and take more!
